About a week ago, Story had a huge crying meltdown that lasted for a while due to her disappointment over not getting to play Nerf football in the rec room with the boys during a break from homeschool.

Two books have begun to stitch me up inside. The change feels subtle but real.

Two people dear to me, my sister Holly and my friend Ellen, sent me these two books in the mail a couple months ago, both for very different reasons. I have learned through Annie to accept whatever comes to teach me, from wherever it comes.

I imagine it might make some people depressed to think they are doing the same thing on this December 27th as they were doing on this date last year. My one-sentence journal reveals that I am very much the same person now as I was a year ago, and I am not depressed at all.

No Confidence in the Flesh

As I mentioned here exactly one month ago, I did some writing practice on the themes of motherhood and attachment in October. It was hugely helpful, and even more so as I spent time this past Saturday rereading the journal entries and copying some of the insights I gleaned into a few summary pages. I went to see my therapist yesterday for the first time in over six months, and I brought my six pages of summarized thoughts to guide our conversation.
